Privacy Policy — Boreo Home Maintenance Tracker

Effective date: October 14, 2026

Developer: James Pauley

Contact: boreo.support@icloud.com

This policy explains what the Boreo Home Maintenance Tracker app ("the app") does with your information. The short version: the developer does not collect, receive, sell or share any of your data.

What the app stores

The app stores the information you type into it: home names, equipment details (such as manufacturer, model and serial numbers, install dates and notes), maintenance schedules, completion history, and costs. This information is stored on your device.

iCloud sync (optional)

If your device is signed in to iCloud, the app uses Apple's iCloud (CloudKit) to keep your information in sync across your own iPhone, iPad and Mac. Your data is saved in your private iCloud storage under your Apple ID. The developer cannot see it or access it. Syncing happens only between devices signed in with the same Apple ID. Apple's handling of iCloud data is described in Apple's privacy policy at https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/. If you are not signed in to iCloud, the app still works and your information stays on that one device.

Camera and photos

On iPhone and iPad, the Scan Nameplate feature lets you take a photo, or choose one from your photo library, of an equipment label. The app reads the text in the photo using text recognition built into your device. The photo is processed only on your device, is not saved by the app, and is not sent anywhere. The app asks for camera or photo access only when you use this feature, and you can turn the permission off at any time in your device's Settings.

Notifications

The app sends maintenance reminders as local notifications created on your device. They are not sent from a server, and the app needs no account to deliver them. You can turn them off at any time in your device's Settings.

What the app does not do

Reports and links you choose to use

When you create a Home Report, the PDF is made on your device. It goes somewhere else only if you choose to print, save or share it. If you save an "order" web link for a filter or lamp and tap it, your device opens that web page in your browser. That website's own privacy practices apply.

Diagnostics

If you chose to share analytics or crash data with app developers in your device settings, Apple may give the developer anonymous, aggregated reports (for example, crash counts) through App Store Connect or TestFlight. These reports do not identify you.

Your choices and control

Children

The app is a general home-maintenance tool and is not directed at children. The developer does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this page with a new effective date.
